During the Lorain County Association of REALTORS® Breakfast Membership Meeting and Election on Thursday, October 23, 2025, LoCAR presented several checks benefiting local community initiatives.
Lorain County Association of REALTOR® LCCC Foundation Scholarship
A $2,500 scholarship check was presented to Jonathan Logue, Director of Development for the Lorain County Community College Foundation for LoCAR Scholarship Fund.
In May of this year, LoCAR held its second fundraiser in support of the LCCC Foundation Scholarship. The event — a Designer Bag Bingo — was coordinated by LoCAR’s Networking Committee. Kim and Tyra were fixtures in the LoCAR office in the weeks leading up to the event, helping to ensure its success!
In early spring 2023, LoCAR met with representatives from LCCC to discuss ways to partner in supporting individuals exploring careers in the housing industry and to help current members continue their professional growth. As a result, LoCAR committed to establishing this scholarship and will contribute $2,500 annually for the next ten years.
The Lorain County Community College Foundation reviews all applications and selects the scholarship recipient. The LoCAR Scholarship supports students pursuing careers related to the housing and building industries — including, but not limited to, real estate, banking, title, insurance, building maintenance, construction, and skilled trades.
The criteria for students to qualify are as follows:
- 3 GPA or higher
- Lorain County resident
- Demonstrated financial need
- Essay question on how completion of their degree or credentials will lead to their achievement of the American Dream, home ownership, or contribute to helping others become homeowners in our community
The student profile of this year’s recipient:
Kim R. is a 55 year old woman who has decide to change work around health issues midlife. She plans to work in real estate and is currently writing a cozy mystery.

This is a career change for me as I’m dealing with some health issues and I have always helped my friends and family look for their dream homes since the 1990’s. I will graduate this semester and will have earned 4 certifications plus an associate’s degree. I am so grateful and thankful for all the assistance LCCC has given me the past few years and am excited to start on the next chapter of my life. Thank you to the Lorain County Association of EALTORS® for the scholarship! I am sorry I am not able to be there, I have an in-person class this morning."
Neighborhood Alliance Haven Homeless Shelter and Meals on Wheels
Also, during the Lorain County Association of REALTORS® Breakfast Membership Meeting and Election, LoCAR presented two checks to Neighborhood Alliance. One for their Haven Homeless Shelter and one for Meals on Wheels.
In June of this year, LoCAR held its annual Charity Golf Outing. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Neighborhood Alliance Haven Center Emergency Shelter.
The Haven Center Emergency Shelter serves as the only 24-hour, 365-day emergency shelter in the area for men, women, and children. It is a full-service, 68-bed facility providing meals, toiletries, laundry, clothing, and connections to help individuals transition into independent housing.
In addition, the Community Outreach Committee hosts a Cornhole Fundraiser each year. This event was held in August and all proceeds from the event supported Neighborhood Alliance’s Meals on Wheels program.
Affiliate member Kathe Pittman of Chicago Title won the 50/50 raffle to benefit the Community Outreach Committee's Adopt a Military Family for Christmas program. Kathe generously donated her winnings back to the program!
